Thanks for your post! Quality work.

About the lack of fire. Wagner has complained recently that they're facing supply issues. Could be that. Could also be, they're just tunnel visioning Bakhmut for a political victory.

I personally think it's both. Since Wagner is undersupplied, and Prigozhin wants this victory so he could gain influence, they are told not to was ammo on non crucial positions.

Fascinating post. Analysis like this is why I subscribe. This is one a real world example I will share with my students. Thank you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUEnQTMgBns How does the Sun post actual combat footage on YouTube and yet they shut you down on quality explanations you have taken extra care to avoid showing soldiers dying out of respect you have for most soldiers.

Hey Ryan. You should check out this video On YT by memeology about Ukraine. There's a patch on a Ukr Guy looks like an IS flag patch. Very interesting and if it's bs let us know. I dont care for the poltics just passing it on.

I looked into it a bit and found an article from a French state-owned news station. The soldier, only ever identified as "Kurt," is from the 28th Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade and seems to have joined the military around the time of Russia's invasion. "Kurt" claims he captured the flag from a Wagner position and collects patches from the battlefield, though it seems there is no solid evidence one way or the other. He also said in an interview that he is a Christian and not a member of the Islamic State. Here's a link to the article if you'd like to read it yourself: https://observers.france24.com/en/europe/20230222-what-do-we-know-about-the-ukrainian-soldier-accused-of-wearing-an-islamic-state-badge

Valid points made. I'm sure Russia will be looking at all infomation available on the Internet highway and looking to make a political win before the week is over. Their timing is one year on and their media continues to mold the Russian population.

I am assuming that is a typo for the self-propelled artillery at “12mm” which I’m guessing should be cm (or 120mm) since 12mm is sort of .45, which is a hell of a pistol round but not a fantastic howitzer shell size, which could explain the lack of craters (they’re only mouse-sized craters?)

It would be interesting to see what this looks like after Ukrainians have withdrawn. I smell a follow-up!

Great post - I guess there are several possible reasons - 1) potential avenue of attack - so Russians don't want to mess up the landscape; 2.) potential avenue of retreat for Ukrainian forces - so they don't want to hinder flight of rattled troops; or 3) Russians haven't shown any guile or master plan in their attack strategy so far in the war - is this now the time for their feint - their master stroke to fake an attack on Greece and strike Sicily? Like that fooled anyone in WWII. The Russians are waiting for the right moment to launch a massive barrage and then go all out, swarm all their armor and mechanized troops to overrun all Ukrainian defensive lines in an all out frontal assault? A glorious victory wave for the 5 o'clock news!
