The Sevastopol Strikes Were Shaping Operations
Ukraine is Creating Dilemmas not Problems by striking RO/RO ships.
On Wednesday, September 13th, Ukraine launched 10 Storm Shadow Missiles at Russian targets in the Sevastopol Naval Shipyard.
The Minsk Ropucha Class Amphibious Landing Ship and the Rostov-on-Don Kilo Class Submarine were damaged, possibly beyond repair.
This operation was designed to "shape" the battlefield by settings the conditions for victory. If the bridges and rail lines to Crimea are destroyed, then resupply will only be possible by ship and air. Unless Russia is willing to use civilian ferries, it will be very difficult to maintain supplies in Crimea with just two Roll-On-Roll-Off Ships.
The Sevastopol Strikes Were Shaping Operations
This video was another useful source of information, but Ryan's ferry captain accent was worth the price of a subscription.
Isolating the peninsula with long-range fires, after preparing the electronic battlefield by hitting every radar, after striking bridges into Crimea. Ukraine has consistently targeted Russian Black Sea lift capacity and I expect ferry landings to come under fire at some point, too.
