If deterrence fails, how will the US and its Allies defeat China in the Pacific? The answer is Any Sensor. Any Decider. Any Shooter. Keep that in mind.
The plan comes down to Any Sensor. Any Decider. Any Shooter. An Australian Special Forces soldier could notice a Chinese missile on an island, send all that information up to an American AWACS who then tasks the most effective and survivable unit to effect that target. Project Convergence Capstone 4 is a yearly experiment held between the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force, as well as the UK, France, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia to learn how to share data and work together to fuze sensors, deciders and shooters.
Thank you to the Army Futures Command for inviting me to witness the experiment.
hi Ryan, I bought this month already. I live in China for 4 years. Chinese, like other peoples in developing countries, are people with great features: hard working, moral, & creative. Rather than fancy "kill web" & "corridors", personnel exchanges (e.g., visiting professors) and Chinese language lessons may be more effective. That is, empathy & friendship may deter a war better than weapons. Xi Jinping is powerful, but his power relies on the righteous might of Chinese people, who have both internet & VPNs. Chinese people like Chinese food, their family, & comfortable life, they aren't interested in military campaigns & are peaceful. For instance, Chinese people engages in war, but their enemy were "other Chinese" not foreigners. Chinese food requires a stationary kitchen, so military campaigns are yucky food events. For instance, my friend Zhu Tenggao dislikes crackers because they are "too dry", but my grandfather, a naval aviator, always ate saltines. Also, despite hot weather in Jiangxi, I never observed fist fights in China. Perhaps, Chinese grandparents from the Cultural Revolution (w/o formal education) "harmonized" their grandchildren, so fights are uncommon. If foreigners show concern & love for Chinese grandmas , I venture the people power of Chinese grandmas deter Xi Jinping. I know that your are a former heavy-weapons operator, cyber security expert, & middle-east linguist. I am ignorant of these things, so I learn from you. I am one person with one voice, but perhaps other Ryan McBeth subscribers give you similar advice. If so, please consider it.
In the real world, my concern is that the legalists in the military will insert themselves into the Kill Web and become the same impediment they were in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even a few seconds of delay can allow a target to escape, and inserting "approvals" into the "Decider" part of the Kill Web could really reduce the effectiveness of the scheme.
