Ryan, just when I am about to give up on you as a gun toting’, cigar chompon’, whiskey drinkin’, military lovin’, flag wavin’, mutton head, you come up with something like this. You badly damage all my highly sensitive, carefully tuned, liberal bias-laden judgments. Keep up the good work.

Great post. We have too many people who want to tell others what to do. I'm not gay but all for fighting for others to have their freedom, to preserve my own.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

—Martin Niemöller

I'm not sure I'd lament a lack of socialism. It's defining achievement is the mass starvation or outright execution of countless millions.

Methinks you're missing the point. Anyway, socialism itself isn't a problem, it has some good aspects. The abuse of socialism as a system is the problem.

People who wouldn’t dream of service trying to shame those who do serve. Disgusting.

Well fucking said!

In the words of Col. Jessup: “I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand the post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!”

I've been telling people for some time that the navy has the greatest reputation for gayness, and all we sailors play into it. But the marines are actually way gayer. They just don't advertise it, and nobody expects it because they're perceived as the "manliest" branch, and no one associates traditional manliness with being gay.

Except the people who've been in. They know that it's often the gay dudes who'll be the first to have your back.

I'm wondering A) how tongue in cheek that last sentence was intended to be and B) which cheek and whose tongue. But I digress.

Good job (again) Ryan! Your observation about the belt buckles and the Army’s attitude toward joy is priceless.

We get neat buckles, but I really envy the army's morale patches. Wish we could.

I reached out to a very old and dear friend an old school combat Marine. when Obama asked the military for a reason not to repeal Don' Ask Don't Tell. His response was very direct and clear. Using language that would be deemed derogatory today he shared that he had several Marines who he knew were gay in his unit, and he would happily deploy to Iraq with them because they did what Marines did best in combat. That seemed to be the only metric he thought had value in deciding if someone should wear a uniform. I found the same thing to be true in the fire department where I worked. We cared about how you did the job. Ryan, keep up the good work.

In 1967 Pierre Trudeau said "Take this thing on homosexuality. The view we (the Canadian government) take is, there's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation.”

It's none of our business what enlisted members beliefs are. It IS our business they are well trained, well equipped, and well supported when they retire.

My son-in-law is a Navy commander, and will be taking command of a boat next month. As he once told me: “I don’t care. Just as long as they can do their job.”

I don’t give a damn who they’re sleeping with. I want to know that they are technically and tactically proficient and that when TSHTF they’ve got my back and that they know at the deepest level I will have there’s all the way and then some.

Israel is Pride Central in the Middle East. It’s a supported, acknowledged community, and its military accepting of its membership. Unfortunately, like many communities, the more religious are likely to be less tolerant, and lacking perspective and even real-world experience. In this case, that personality type has a platform to display her ignorance.

I dont really care about a sailor's sexuality. If you post content on social media, you can expect someone will complain and weaponize it against you. It applies to the sailor and Libs of TikTok.
