You are really good at this Ryan. This is an excellent paper. They should hire you to teach at the war College at fort McNair.

What they've done is more about currying favor with their own people and for propaganda than anything... Unless they believe their own BS, in which case there's no helping them... Well written piece Sir!

I wish there was a way to DM individuals here... I got a notification that Ryan left a comment on my reply, but I don't see it anywhere except in my email notification... It included a Ph#, but I'm leery since I can't find it in the comments anywhere... If that really was you Ryan please says so here... I'll keep the email for awhile just in case... ;)

Should be pretty easy to call and determine if the voice is correct. His voice is very memorable.

I did consider it, but I've never been contacted by what appears to be the originator of a post in this fashion... So caution was the better part of valor here...

I'm not blind calling any #, lol...

Yeah, but i think that type of war is easy there the issue in Iran is that NATO, we in Colombia are also part of NATO, would have to completely destroy the country to win against their resistence, is not bad the persian are the same of all westerns and west need the people, but i think the facilities and the weponary of them is the least problem, the big problem would be the logistics for that ammount of people getting to the west and the americas countries. And the terrorisim derive from that in our territories.

But win in IRAN with NATO i think is easy, but i think we are not yet there to atack them because last 3 wars there were destroying their competitors, and their are the counterwage of saudi arabia, in that case i think is better to be with israel unless we make 2 stops taking also Pakistan, They doble cross NATO with China, and are a future treat for the west, with Iran and pakistan out it would be faster to make a big block there pro west, pro israel, in peace with arabs instead of what we have today, but we would need to win first, and those two countries represent a super big challenge even more that one is russia proxie and the other chinas proxie. And now they are getting friends with india and saudies are saying things about oil and dollar, so the neighborhood requiere a NATO intervention, is better to fight Rusia there than in Europe, or open a second front there with all the bad guys going this time trying to avoid inner city fighting where they are so good, thats why it would require mass migration of their peoples.

“Underground shelters like this don’t add much to the survivability onion. But they are no more complex to build than a tunnel, create jobs, and give the illusion of security to people who don’t know anything about the military.”

I agree, a JDAM is relatively cheap and could turn that place into a New Age Persian tomb.

When analyzing an institution's (gov't, NGO, private for-profit corporation) announcements, a good first question is: "Who are the intended audiences and what is the desired effect?" The answer may not be immediately obvious.

I like the way you can explain things clearly in very few words and be funny but serious at the same time. Keep it up.

Aircraft dispersion is the old shell game and Iran can't raise the entry fee like the US can with good theatre air defences.

So what hope do they that have that door will not be blasted shut, the runways cratered an mined?

But in 2020 i'd say that VTOL aircraft are the future of mobile distributed operations.

Be like Switzerland an use every road tunnel as a potential launching pad.

Moving all those planes around will consume fuel. That can be expensive.

Also, they way you're putting it, it looks like Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan are doing it wrong.

Expand full comment

Switzerland and Taiwan don't have much choice, they lack the flat space to really go in for

force dispersal.

A lot of there protective aircraft shelters are other wise normal road tunnels, park a fuel tanker and that's it, just use the road as a runway.
