As a Californian, you should check out some of Californias "statehood" dreams. One of the initial proposals pushed the CA border up past Utah and basically claimed the entire Southwest. Since they happen (I assume) in similar time frames it might shift the borders. I'm also curious how it would have impacted migration routes like the Oregon trail... you can guess when I went to school lolz.
You might want to rethink the title. Book with such title already exists. It was written by the infamous Viktor Suvorov (Vladimir Rezun) and published in 1997.
I volunteer. Me: retired anesthesiologist, 2 war vet, published in professional medical literature. Old, yet socially vibrant. My feet have been in 42 nations around our world. I also volunteered to go to Mars. Decades residing in rural Montana with one wife of 45 years, 3 successful sons who are out in the world. Holla!
I'm not sure I'd be great for a test reader but I am really looking forward to reading it when you are finished. It sounds very interesting and is perfect timing I think with the popularity of American Primeval on Netflix! Good luck, I know you will nail it just like everything else!!! Much respect to you!!
Oh! I am sad I saw this too late! Would have loved to be a test reader. Loved the Win Machine. I read a lot of thriller and mystery books. I am usually into the more tame ones (e.g. Richard Osman, Louise Penny) but also read Daniel Silva and most recently Steven Hildreth Jr.- most violent of the books I have ever read but strangely, even as a person really afraid of guns, I found the guns/weapons stuff really educational. Anyway, if you ever need input on Japanese stuff, I am happy to help! Look forward to the next book!
Interesting concept. In a former life I was LDS or "Mormon." I actually think the alliance with Iran would be possible but because I think the system of government would be more theocratic similar to Iran. I'd recommend looking into the "council of fifty." Mormons already see themselves as "gods chosen people" and are going along with the laws of man. I would imagine there are writings by church leaders talking about what kind of government structure they would have. The book "Mormon Doctrine" by Bruce R. McConkie might be a good resource.

In the timeline you spelled Romney as Romnet and enforcement as endorsement.
That’s why I have editors
You had me at "Red Storm Rising" and "Guns of the South" as inspiration. Can't wait to read it when it's finished.

Happy to lend an eye or two - what exactly does one need to do, and by when
