How Will President Biden's Weapons Embargo of Israel Change the Outcome of Gaza?
It won't. First you have to understand that it isn't really an embargo
I woke up today to a breathless opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal titled “Biden Slaps an Arms Embargo on Israel.”
But when is an embargo not an embargo? When it is a “a hold on a pending shipment” of weapons. This is actually a pretty interesting strategy. Israel has the weapons to finish the fight in Rafah. Any weapons shipments made to Israel would be more geared to replacing systems used during the final push.
However, President Biden is a very close race with former President Trump in Michigan, which is home to a significant American Muslim population.
So this “embargo” may be a brilliant move to curry favor with Muslim Americans in Michigan while simultaneously not effecting the final push into Rafah one bit. Once the fight is finished and Gaza disappears from the news, the weapons can finally be sent to replace the once expended in Rafah.
So Joe Biden is officially cutting off aid to an ally at war, after sabotaging their war effort at every step, for nakedly political reasons. Impeach, remove from office.
Gosh I hate Joe Biden on so many levels.
