Last night I had a bunch of Iranian subscribers reach out to me and tell me that sirens were going off in their cites. I have reports of targets it in Dezful, Isfahan, Tehran, Karaj, Tabriz and Hamedan, all from Iranian subscribers. There may be more targets I’m unaware of now. The Wall Street Journal reported an ammunition factory in Isfahan and an oil refinery in Tabriz was hit.
Based on the picture below, at least some of these air attacks may have come from HAROP drone.
This is where things get interesting.
The HAROP drone is made in Israel by IAI.
However, according to CAT-UXO it is used by Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, Germany, India, Israel, Libya, Singapore, South Korea, Syria and Turkey.
The missile can be fired from containers on land.
Or Sea.
The range of the HAROP is roughly 621 miles or 1000 kilometers.
If you converge the circle, you can see that Israel is out of range of these weapons systems. Sea-launch also places Tabriz out of range.
But a HAROP launched from Azerbaijan
This could have been an attack where multiple types of drones were used or a combination of aircraft and drones.
Note that Turkey is also an operator of this drone and all targets could also have been reached from Turkey’s southern border.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have been fighting a low-intensity war over Nagorno-Karabakh essentially since the fall of the Soviet Union.
Turkey is on is on Azerbaijan’s side.
Russia and Iran seem to be on Armenia’s side.
