Thank you for this video. The title is the most click bait title for those of us interested in world affairs, and it is a shame that Youtube demonetized it. But your work is well worth the subscription fee, and thank you for your novel. I ordered the print version, and it was a page turner. With appreciation and gratitude, Gordon
Great post, Ryan. You took a massively complicated geo/historical conflict and rendered it pretty comprehensible. And hats off to you for mentioning the civilians, because they have really been suffering throughout this whole mess. Having been in Aleppo, before the conflict, I was really shocked to see the level of destruction there.
I have a friend who lives in Syria. She lives in Damascus, and says there is fighting in the next building. She is a staunch supporter of Assad, but is a pacifist, we both worked for a non profit. Awful time to be there...
I join the commenters below in congratulating you on another great video. While I don't have a personal connection to Syria, or a military background, I am very concerned about what happens in that geographic area and appreciate having someone with a military perspective explain what is going on.
Fantastic video. Thanks for translating the various groups…Sunni/Catholic, Shia/Protestant, etc just to help provide some framing. Very helpful. …and now I understand a bit better why this region has been at war for a 1,000 years (or more)
With Assad ousted and outta the country, let’s hope we get those files left behind that could reveal that Tulsi Gabbard was indeed an Assad apologist and defender of his war crimes against the Syrian people. This in addition to her political start courtesy Marxists, before magically converting, joining the Trump campaign, MAGA Republicans and now potentially becoming head of our 17 intelligence agencies!
Invested in wefunder. Thanks for pushing this for the small investors. Would like a job with Aerolab. Any openings for cookie makers? I don't know squat about drones, science, or math but I can blow your socks off with snickerdoodles.
There is a curfew in order now apparently. Things are very unsettled. Damascus has a lot of Assad supporters. However, the majority of them don't believe the stories of Assad torturing his own countrymen which is a prime example of a dictatorship. I feel that my friend is in for a rude awakening when the truth comes out. They are just staying inside sheltering ATM until things calm down. We take for granted the little things like safety and security, even criticising our political leaders... Yet we are all the same really. All we want is a roof o
ver our heads, hot food in our bellies and safety for our families. Once again, however, another brutal dictator has fallen. Let us hope that Syria can eventually rejoin the rest of the free world once day now they have broken free of the shackles of tyranny.

Thanks, because of you, I might be able to pay my mortgage this month

Marine friends. Funny. I'll have you know that I am one of the Marines who was required to know how to read. :-)
The Kurds: "No friends but the mountains."

Ryan, who takes over if Asad is deposed? Will the new government be favorable to the West or to Russia?

My question- Which country, which other faction/state starts to gain confidence as Russian military capability wanes? Chechnya? Caucasus?
Totally worth the $5! C’mon you cheap bastards… help a brother out. $5 is less than a drink in a bar. Pony up!
I’ve given my share more than once. Enough times I’d be stoned cold drunk, and probably couldn’t find my way to the bathroom.
I’ve paid my share several times over
Win Machine is a fine tale, finely written! Keep up your outstanding work, Ryan.
