Inside the Sayeret Nahal

Tactical Insights into Israel's Elite Infantry Unit

Footage was released of Sayeret Nahal fighting in Gaza. Here is what some of this video means and how it can backfire.

NOTE: I misidentified one of the sights in the video. It’s a MEPRO M45, not an EOTECH. Israeli units should also have one grenade launcher and one ACOG site per squad.

This is my job now. If you have $5.00 I would really appreciate you becoming a paid member.

This Israeli unit is fighting well and with professionalism. The only part that gives me heartburn is their scene moving prisoners. While I don’t believe that these prisoners have been harmed or mistreated, the optics of half naked bodies conjures up images of The Abu Ghraib Torture scandal.

Specialist Charles Grainer (top) and Private Lindy England (bottom) force nude Iraqi prisoners in a pile in Abu Ghraib prison.

While this video clearly does not rise to the extent of torture at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, the optics of the event could be used for radicalization.
