The current administration's willingness to enforce immigration might endanger some dissidents who have entered the U. S. illegally. But the U. S. has an asylum process (https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-asylum) that they should have followed.

One of the things this process does is lower the risks that those who follow the process and are granted asylum are not criminals or terrorists. Just because a Russian citizen dislikes the Putin regime enough to be put on their list doesn't mean they won't cause mischief in the U. S. We need to carefully vet these folks. I'm sorry if that is an inconvenience to them.
