For a Common Cyber Defense
A modest proposal for a cybersecurity militia force
War with China is on the horizon like an oncoming hurricane. And this kind of got me thinking about another hurricane back when Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was popular.
I’m going to tie the two together. Stay with me on this.
Back in 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, volunteers from Louisiana took their private boats and began rescuing people in and around New Orleans.
The Cajuns were skilled boat pilots from living in the Louisiana swampland, where small vessels such as bass boats and airboats were a method of transportation.
Eventually, this group began calling themselves the Cajun Navy, and they rescued thousands trapped by floodwaters.
Today, the United Cajun Navy is an actual NGO, a voluntary nonprofit that provides disaster relief and search and rescue.
So, what if in a war with China, we could do the same thing, but with cybersecurity?
