We ran through a lot of our smart munitions in last year's attack against Iran. Further depleting it in the current war. Do you think this will affect China's calculations?

I'm writing a video about that right now.

Smart munitions depleted, conventional bombs and Tomahawks depleted, two carriers that have been in service continuously for almost a year (usually six months between refits) plus all the carrier and land aircraft are needing depot maintenance, I bet China's taking notes on this and looking over at Taiwan for favorable weather and tides.

So I have a question for you, Ryan, and others feel free to chime in. What leads to your certainty that we will respond at all if/when China strikes and invades Taiwan? I hope we would, but it seems to me that while he speaks harshly about the countries of Russia and China, Trump appears enamored with the leaders (dicators) of those respective countries. That makes me wonder if he would hesitate or worse, see that invasion as an opportunity for him to play strong man and do something even more dramatic than snatch Maduro or bomb Iran. Invade Cuba maybe?

The last ship sunk by a torpedo was in the Falklands war by the Uk. Major Phil

We just sank an Iranian ship with a sub.

Simple question.

What are the soil requirements for the jacks on those ships?

Those jacks are going to be holding up quite a bit of weight, and will have a dynamic load applied to them with all the equipment and men moving to the shore.

I can see significant issues occurring if the seabed is too "soft" or doesn't match whatever design constraints are built into the system.

Mainland China invading Taiwan is a very bad Idea. Not worth the blood and treasure, and it would be very difficult to integrate what's left of Taiwan's population into the PRC after a successful invasion. Xi Jinping needs to look northeast and see that they can recoup what they really need in resources, and the population would be more compliant. They no longer want to be Russian.

But hey, autocrats do stupid things like surround themselves with compliant yes men and believe their own propaganda. I see this as similar to the situation between Russia and Ukraine, except it would be much harder for the PRC because Taiwan has allies now and a 100-mile moat. Putin has been working on his three-day SMO for over four years now, and Ukraine has no moat and was an orphan of Europe. Hopefully, Xi Jinping has been paying attention.

Professor Paine has a great intellect and is a pleasure to watch lecture.

…those giant pier structure landing craft seem like a juicy target for one of our mantra ray autonomous subs which has been laying on the bottom of the Taiwan Starights for weeks or months. 🤔
