TL:DR Several hundred famished civilians tried to delay the final "liquidation" of the Warsaw Ghetto. The action was symbolic but highly co-ordinated. Needless to say, the Warsaw Ghetto was eventually rendered Judenrein.
TL:DR The Polish Home Army asked resistance fighters and civilians remaining in the ruins of Warsaw to rise up against the occupying German army. The fighting lasted for weeks while the Soviets watched and did nothing to help. The Poles were defeated.
Didn't the Jews of the Warsaw Uprising get rid of a few nazi scum by being haphazardly armed and mostly untrained? They ultimately lost and were burned out of the tunnels, but they were surrounded and in a controlled environment.
Being armed works: it's how the regime slaughtered 30k+ Iranians in a weekend. It can also work for the people, even if far less organized.

As to the regime getting a propaganda victory out of the US arming the people, that's only if we're shoe-gazing moral cowards (which we mostly are). That regime has zero legitimacy and is widely hated inside Iran and outside. If they cry that "America is arming the rebels", we should lean into that and say "You're fucking goddamned right we are, goat-boy."
When the enemy is aggressively and coercively evil, hate is a virtue. Be proud of it. Maximize it. Because you're right that evil can never be dead enough.
But we have no Eisenhowers or even JFKs, and we damned sure have no Pattons and MacArthurs. I hope I'm wrong about this prediction, but I think zRump will walk away from Iran backpatting himself (as always) and achieving nothing, yet will still vilify Biden for doing the same thing in Afghanistan (where my Sept 12, 2001 kneejerk that we should have nuked them has been proven correct). If he is NOT using his "negotiations" as a distraction while he arms the people or something equivalent, then he's even a worse piece of shit than I thought.
I'm no longer convinced the West can defeat islamofascist expansion. Our minds and souls are far too weak. Citizen vigilantism may be our only hope and we will likely have to kill our own governments as well. Doing this might have saved the Iranians.
